II. Vertical and Horizontal Curriculum Alignment Policies:

Aligning the curriculum vertically and horizontally is crucial for ensuring a unified and comprehensive educational program. To achieve this alignment, AECHS has adopted the following policies:

Vertical Alignment Policies and Procedures:

1. Curriculum Mapping:

· Each department maintains a comprehensive curriculum map detailing subject scope and sequence across grade levels.

· Annual reviews ensure updates and alignment with learning goals.

2. Cross-Grade Collaboration:

· Weekly meetings and collaboration sessions among Arabic and English language teachers from different grade levels.

· Department meetings with subject coordinators conducted whenever the need arises, to facilitate communication on content, teaching strategies, and learning expectations.

3. Learning Progression Documents:

· Scope and sequence documents double as learning progression guides, articulating skills and concepts for each grade level.

· Guide teachers to ensure continuity in student development.

4. Vertical Planning Meetings:

· Formal vertical meetings scheduled once per year (at the beginning of the academic year) for teachers to discuss curriculum content, share insights, and address gaps or redundancies.

5. Data Analysis:

· Subject coordinators as well as HODs analyze student performance data, by considering the class average to identify trends and areas needing alignment.

Horizontal Alignment Policies and Procedures:

1. Grade Level Collaboration:

· Collaboration among teachers within the same grade level, taking place twice per year, to addresses academic and behavioral challenges across different subjects.

2. Parent Communication:

· Communicating horizontally aligned curriculum information to parents at the beginning of the academic year.
